Cold plasma, a non-thermal technology has garnered considerable interest for its potential applications in surface modification, decontamination and even wound treatment. In a recent Emerging Technologies Forum on Printable Cold Plasma organised by IPI on 5 October 2018, participants had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of this upcoming technology. Dr Min Kwan Kim, a lecturer in Astronautics from the University of Southampton, was the guest speaker at the forum.
Dr Kim shared the technical insights on the development of cold plasma technology that is printable, low-powered and cost-efficient, and its advantages over other existing plasma technologies. He highlighted the variety of potential applications across various industries such as healthcare, food, environment, manufacturing, and national defence. Participants also had a chance to take a close look at some of the prototypes created.
Following the informative forum, participants had an interactive question and answer session and took the networking time to discuss potential partnership opportunities.
